Seventeen-year-old student from Kolhapur Ashwin Narsinghani reached the semifinals of the ongoing Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2024 defeating Maaz Khan (6-0) without losing a game, even as the teenager, who was last year's men's singles runner-up, also paired up with Ashwin Narsinghani/Shantanu Gurav to beat Nagesh Naik/Pankaj Chaddah (6-2) in the men's doubles.
In another men's singles quarterfinals, 28-year-old Rajasthan-based tennis coach Rahul Singh advanced to the semifinals of the men's event defeating Hafiz Beg (6-2). This is the first time that Singh has advanced to the semifinals of the Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2024, after exiting at the quarter-final stage of the tournament in the past on two occasions in the men's singles and doubles categories.
In another match in the men's singles category, Bharath Paul Singh beat Aryan Kotasthane (6-4), while Badal beat Shaurya Awasthi(6-2).
In the under-16 boys category, Arhan Gaunkar and Akshobhya Acharya lost just one game in their wins against Rehan and Kyan Mavany respectively, while Atharv Dakare defeated Aarav Kumar (6-0) and Vedant Naik beat Vihan and Krishna Volvoikar beat Arhan Inamdar (6-4) to reach the semifinals.
In mixed doubles semifinals, Aman Shetty/Sanika Kambli beat Mladen Petrovic/Milica Rakovic (6-0) (6-0) and will pair up in the finals opposite Maaz Khan/Trisha Vinod, who defeated Bharath Paul Singh/Nidhi Sequeira (6-1) (6-0).
In the men’s doubles event, Sachin Dukle/Arup A beat Santosh Ghatage/Prathmesh Patil (6-4), Reagan Rathor/Hafiz Beg beat Darsh Pai/Pankaj Naik (6-0), Bulu/Mano Chhabra beat Maaz Khan/Prateik R (7-6)(5) and Santosh Gorawar/Raju beat Bharath Paul Singh/Vivek MC(6-2).
