Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) chairman Brahmanand Shankwalkar lauded the work done by its centre during the kit distribution ceremony at the Don Bosco School hall, Tuem.
“I am very happy to see the progress of the players at Tuem centre. A fresh council will be formed on August 1. Whoever comes, my support will always be there and I will always be there for these budding footballers. Wish you all the best,” said Shankhwalkar.
GFA president and GFDC Council Member, Caitano Fernandes expressed happiness over the progress made by the centre since its inception in November 2022.
“I thank GFDC staff and management for giving the kids of Tuem a chance to learn football. Our dream for FC Tuem is to make it the best, not only in Pernem, but the state of Goa. From Third Division we have now reached the Second Division.”
“There is no women’s team from Pernem taluka, but now we will make sure that the girls from here will get a chance to play in the coming years. In coming years, GFA and GFDC promise their full support towards the development of football in the state. We need the 60 kids training here to focus on football,” said Caitano.
He also thanked the GFDC coaches training the kids at Tuem centre, namely Mahesh Kambli, Vineet Bugde and Chetna Tirodkar. GFDC also felicitated four boys from Tuem centre for getting selected for Dempo SC’s U-13 and U-15 teams.
Also present were the Rector and Manager of Don Bosco Tuem, Fr Richard Correia and council members, Pradeep Chodankar, Shantaram Naik and Collin Vaz. Centre Head, Stany Lobo compered the function.
