Goa University won the West Zone Inter University Football Women Championship 2022-23, which was organised by Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education, Gwalior (LNIPE, Gwalior).
Goa University topped the table with five points on goal difference, ahead of hosts LNIPE, Gwalior (5 points), University of Mumbai (5 points) and University of Kota (0).
In the first match of the league, Goa University defeated the University of Kota, Kota 4-0. Aniela Barretto and Karen Estrocio scored two goals each. In the second matches of the league played on Sunday, Goa University drew with University of Mumbai 2-2 as karen scored a brace. In the last match of the league, Goa University drew with LNIPE Gwalior 1-1. Namita Govekar scored for the Goans in a well-contested match.
The team has qualified for All India Inter-University Football Women Championship 2022-2023 to be held at the same venue from January 12 to 17.
