The Goa boys team emerged winners for the sixth consecutive time in the 6th Mini U-14 National Tennis Ball Cricket Championship held at Sholinghur, Tamil Nadu which concluded on Sunday.

Goa boys defeated hosts Tamil Nadu in the final. Put in to bat, Tamil Nadu scored 44 runs in 6 overs in the final. In reply, Goa scored the required runs in 5.2 overs. Earlier, Goa had defeated Maharashtra in the quarterfinals and got the better of Puducherry in the semifinals.

The victorious teams were awarded trophies, medals and gifts during the closing ceremony held at Unity School ground, Sholinghur, Tamil Nadu. Maharashtra emerged winners in the girls' section.

Goa to host sr nat women's football matches
MARGAO: Goa will host Group III matches of the Senior Women’s National Football Championship which will be held in March, 2023. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has confirmed in a letter to the Goa Football Association (GFA) that Group III “ comprising Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan Tripura and Goa will have its matches in Goa, which are likely to be played between March 20 to April 5.

“We are delighted to host the Group matches for the Hero Senior Women’s National Football Championship. We are thankful to the AIFF for accepting our bid to host the matches,” stated GFA president Dr Caitano Fernandes. “This will be a huge boost for our State women as they will get to witness some fine competition which will definitely inspire the women to take up the sport. We are keen to host the games and will ensure that we will give our best,” stated Caitano. The AIFF has asked the association to submit the confirmed dates which the State association will be finalising shortly.

Goan judoka Mukesh wins nat silver
MARGAO: Goan judoka Mukesh Tarad won a silver medal in the cadets under-18 age category at Sub Junior and Cadets National Judo Championship in Chennai on Sunday. The 17-year-old lost against a Haryana judoka in the -81 kg category final. Mukesh trains at SAI STC, Ponda under coach Sushil Gayakwad. Vinayak Desai was the team coach for a coaching camp and at the nationals.
