Goan Street Premier League draws resounding success

MARGAO

The Goan Street Premier League (GSPL) Season 1, organised by Fatorda Friends Circle, was a resounding success. The four-day event featured 12 teams competing in a league format.

The culmination of the tournament arrived with the finals played between Sai Vignesh and Indians Capital. The electrifying atmosphere at the SAG Ground saw a large crowd eager to witness the best Goan players in action.

Indians Capital won the toss and elected to field first. However, Sai Vignesh stole the show with a phenomenal batting performance, scoring an impressive 84 runs in just five overs. This daunting target proved insurmountable for Indians Capital, who could only manage 36 runs in their allotted five overs. Consequently, Sai Vignesh emerged victorious, claiming the coveted trophy and a cash prize of Rs 2,00,000. Indians Capital, though disappointed, received a runner-up trophy and Rs 1,00,000 in cash prize.

The tournament not only celebrated exceptional team performances but also acknowledged individual brilliance. Pravin Naik was awarded the Man of the Final, while Santosh Madval received the Emerging Player award. Saish Zore was crowned the Best Batsman, Harshad Matondkar bagged the Best Bowler title, and Guruprasad Asoskar impressed everyone with his exceptional fielding, earning him the Best Fielder award.

Punaji Calangutekar, with his consistent batting prowess throughout the tournament, was declared the Man of the Series. He received a Smart LED TV as a well-deserved reward for his remarkable performance.

The event was graced by the presence of Vijai Sardessai (Fatorda MLA) as the chief guest. Mushtaq Ahmed (Sea Easy), Zameer Ahmed (AL Zarghum Restaurant), and other esteemed dignitaries added to the prestige of the occasion.
