Goa University organised the Goa University Marathon 2022 recently. The marathon was organised to commemorate the 60th year of Goa's Liberation and to convey a message of the importance of fitness and good health, with the theme of the marathon being 'Health is your right'.
The marathon was exclusively for the students and employees of affiliated colleges and the Goa University campus. Around 700 participants took part in the marathon. All the races were flagged off by the Vice Chancellor of Goa University, Prof Harilal B Menon in the presence of Prof Vishnu S Nadkarni, Registrar, Goa University, M Shreedhara, Joint Registrar (Administration), Goa University and the Marathon committee members.
Wilson-Ehrlich win men's doubles title
Wilson D'Souza and Ehrlich De Ataide emerged CDJ 2023 champions in veterans 40-plus men's doubles category by defeating Arnold and Bhushan 21-15, 21-19. The duo won the CDJ trophies plus cash prizes in the event organised by CDJ Club Ribandar.
Kritiksha wins State U-17 karate gold
PANAJI: Kritiksha Shirodkar of Our Lady of Divar High School, Divar won a gold medal in the State level under-17 girls karate championship organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at Fatorda, Margao. Workshop on Pickleball at Don Bosco College
PANAJI: A workshop on the growing racket sport ‘pickleball’ was held at Don Bosco College for Bachelor of Physical Education students in collaboration with Globel Sports Pvt Ltd, Mumbai. A group of five coaches led two-hour practical sessions with 80 BPEd students and four faculty members, and ten of them were chosen to serve as officials at the Indian Pickleball Open 2023 to be held at Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias in Miramar and Panaji Gymkhana Sports Club on February 10, 11, and 12. Global Sports has shown an interest in working with Don Bosco to promote pickleball in Goa. Dr Ajith Gopi, the department's coordinator for physical education and sports gave a vote of thanks.
