Guardian Angel pip CAC Cansaulim, reach QFs

Guardian Angel Sports Club secured their spot in the quarterfinals of the 25th Holy Cross football tournament with a 1-0 win over CAC Cansaulim at Vhoilem Moll Kakoda on Monday.

Despite several attempts, Guardian Angel failed to find the back of the net in the first half, but they continued to apply pressure on CAC Cansaulim's defence. The second half saw both teams create some opportunities but it was Guardian Angel who finally broke the deadlock in the 56th minute through a well-placed penalty kick from Ivo Costa.

CAC Cansaulim fought back hard in the remaining minutes of the match but Guardian Angel held on to their lead and secured a hard-fought victory.

Navelim SC move into quarters
Navelim SC beat Cuncolim Union 1-0 to enter the quarterfinals of the Davorlim Panchayat Cup football tournament organised by Davorlim SC and played at Davorlim ground on Monday.

Presley of Navelim missed a chance to score in the 6th minute. Daulat Dessai of Cuncolim then shot over the crossbar of Navelim in the 10th minute. Presely Gomes of Navelim netted the match-winner in the 68th minute with a placement shot.

Raia FC clinch high-scoring thriller
Raia FC emerged victorious in a high-scoring match against Maina SC in the GFA U-13 Division League 2022-23 (Division II) Salcete Zone, Group A on Monday. The match was held at the Rosary Church Ground in Navelim.

Raia FC started strongly with Shannon D'costa scoring in the 5th and 9th minutes, followed by another goal from Ashloy Furtado in the 28th minute. Maina SC fought back with Farhan Shaikh scoring in the 16th minute and Kingsly Fernandes in the 20th minute but Raia FC maintained their lead with goals from D'costa in the 32nd, 35th, 41st, and 59th minutes.

Maina SC scored again in the 63rd minute through Farhan Shaikh but Raia FC responded immediately with Samuel Cruz scoring in the 64th minute and Furtado scoring again in the 67th minute. The final score was 9-3 in favour of Raia FC.

Philippos wins Indian national autocross c'ships second round in Goa

PANAJIPhilippos Matthai of Delhi was adjudged the champion of the second round of the Indian national autocross championships (INAC) held at the Goa engineering college grounds in Farmagudi on April 29 and 30.Philippos clocked a time of 1:36:37 for the 1.2 km track followed by three Goans, Azim Hanchi (1:40:64), Amey Desai (1:41:06) and Saamag Kudchadkar (1:41:81).There were eight classes in the INAC event and the top five racers from each class have qualified for the finals…
