The Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) held a meeting with various State sports associations on Wednesday to discuss the schedule and budget requirements for the preparatory camp for the 37th National Games to be held in Goa later this year.
The meeting was attended by office bearers of various associations and was held in consultation with the Goa Olympic Association. It was chaired by Dr Geeta S Nagvenkar (GCS), Jt CEO and Executive Director, SAG, along with Dr Sandeep Martin Warlikar, Official and Nodal Officer to the Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, and Navin Acharya, Asst Director - Programme and Nodal Officer for the National Games. The meeting aimed to provide the associations with the necessary information and guidelines to prepare for the preparatory camp for the upcoming National Games.
During the meeting, Dr Nagvenkar stressed the importance of the preparatory camp and the need for each association to provide a comprehensive schedule and budget requirement for the same. Dr Warlikar added that the government is committed to providing all necessary support and facilities to the participating athletes to ensure their optimal performance in the National Games.
Acharya provided guidance and information about the various facilities that will be made available for the preparatory camp, including accommodation, food, and training facilities. He urged the associations to provide the necessary details by this week to ensure that the approvals can be obtained and camps organised smoothly and efficiently. Sandhya Phaldesai (Joint Director, Accounts) was also present during the meeting.
The preparatory camp will play a crucial role in ensuring that Goa's athletes are well-prepared and ready to compete in the National Games.
