MARGAO
Five-time champion Dempo head coach Samir Naik said that there can be no room for complacency when they take on FC Bengaluru FC in the I League 2, at Ella ground, Old Goa, on Saturday.
“We got a lesson from Maharashtra Oranje FC who were highly motivated and kept fighting. We talked about it. We expect the same motivation from Bengaluru United FC so there’s no way for us to approach this half-heartedly,” said Samir.
The Golden Eagles salvaged a last gasp point against Maharashtra Oranje FC in their first game and it is a lesson that Samir Naik hopes his team have learned from with the Golden Eagles needing a win against FC Bengaluru FC to confirm a decent placing.
“It’s a very tight group. We’re ready for this difficult game against Bengaluru team we have respect for the team. We watched and scouted them, so we’re looking forward to a very exciting match," said a member of the Golden Eagles side.
"Naik knows these players well having come through the system. But we have to do our job, play hard, keep the tempo high and hopefully get the three points," he further added.
Samir anticipate a strong and well-organized opponent with high-quality players. "We want to go as far as possible in this tough tournament. There are no easy matches in football, and the first encounter is a significant challenge for us. The team that makes fewer mistakes will achieve victory.” Naik concluded.
