Our Lady of Gloria SC, Raia, defeated Guirdolim Club 2-0 in an exhilarating match of the All Goa Inter Village Lourdes Festival Football Tournament organized by United Club of Utorda at SAG Ground, Utorda.
A goal by Sweden in the 16th minute gave Raia an early lead. There was a golden opportunity for Raia to double the lead in the 26th minute, but the Guirdolim goalkeeper played a crucial role in denying a close-range effort. Despite a great effort by Gale D Costa of Guirdolim, the shot went off target. The score at halftime was 1-0.
Safik Shaikh of Guirdolim had a powerful shot that went just over the crossbar. Raia's goalkeeper made a brilliant save in the 46th minute to prevent Guirdolim from equalizing. In the 52nd minute, Achilles provided a beautiful cross pass, and a powerful header by Sweden doubled the lead for Raia.
The Man of the Match was Jake Mederna of Gloria Raia. Raia will now face Curtorim Gymkhana in the finals on February 4.
