Raia Sporting Club blanked Parish Youth Nuvem 2-0 to move into the semifinals of the 22nd Vagator Soccer 2022 at Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club ground, Ozran, on Monday.
In the 4th minute, Nuvem's Nicolau Colaco's 30-yard freekick hit the woodwork while Francis Colaco's shot was saved on the rebound by the Raia keeper Preston Rego. At the other end in the 8th minute, Raia's Jouston Barbosa's shot from outside the box dipped over the crossbar as the first half ended goalless.
On crossing ends, Raia took the lead in the 36th minute when Velito Cruz scored on the volley which glanced off the crossbar into the net from a cross from Lloyd Crdozo from the right flank. The Raia keeper Preston had a busy outing as he denied a half-volley shot from Inacio Colaco in the 48th minute.
Raia SC were reduced to 10 men in the 53rd minute when Joy Quadros was shown a second yellow card. In the 75th minute, Alloid Colaco of Nuvem was shown a direct red card for a dangerous tackle on Garrison Fernandes. Jouston Barbosa scored the second for Raia from a freekick.
The Man of the match trophy was awarded to Preston Rego of Raia Sporting Club by Sharon Lobo.
Cuncolim Union edge past DBO Fatorda
Cuncolim Union edged Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda 4-3 to move into the quarterfinals of the 23rd All Goa Our Lady of Merces 8-a-side inter village tournament at Our Lady of Hope Church ground, Chinchinim.
Cuncolim Unoin took the lead in the 8th minute through Daulat Dessai. Don Bosco could have levelled but a brilliant save by Cuncolim Union keeper Vicky Naik denied them. In the next minute, Cuncolim Union scored their second goal with Trijoy curling in a freekick.
Don Bosco came back strong and scored two goals in quick succession in 29th and 30th minutes through Hanselem Furtado and Roque Borges, 2-2. In the second half, Trijoy scored his second and Cuncolim Union's third goal in the 36th minute.
Cuncolim went one man down as Trijoy was shown a red card for dangerous play. Daulat made it 4-2 in the 53rd minute. In the dying minutes, Roque scored his double to make it 4-3.
Cumborda SC move into next round
Cumborda SC defeated Paldem SC 2-1 to move into the next round of the 4th Cumborda Sports Club football tournament organised by Cumborda Sports Club, at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim on Monday.
Veron gave the lead to Cumborda in the 23rd minute. In the second half, Paldem got their equaliser through Kevin in the 30th minute. Veron scored his brace and the match winner in the 40th minute, taking Cumborda to the next round. The Man of match prize was awarded to Kevin from Paldem SC.
