Host team Raia Sporting Club triumphed over Don Bosco Oratory of Fatorda 3-2 in a tense penalty shootout, securing their place in the finals of the 51st Custodio Memorial inter-village football tournament.
The match, held at Raia Panchayat football ground on Sunday, captivated a crowd of over 1800 enthusiastic spectators. The game was a tightly contested affair with both Raia SC and DBO Fatorda displaying their best football skills. Despite numerous attempts from both sides, regulation time ended without a goal being scored, leading to a dramatic shootout to determine the winner.
In the tiebreaker, Joswel Cardozo, Klins Mendes, and Silvano Oliveira calmly converted their penalties for Raia SC, while Roque Borges and Clencio Pinto found the net for DBO Fatorda. Ultimately, Raia SC emerged victorious with a 3-2 shootout score.
Jack Mendera of Raia SC was awarded the Man of the Match prize for his outstanding performance throughout the match. The award was presented by chief guest Inacina Quadros, former Panch of VP Raia.
