MARGAO: Sao Jose de Areal SC get the better of Guardian Angel SC, Curchorem, with a score of 4-2 in a penalty shootout to advance to the quarterfinals of the 23rd edition of the Bro. Eulalio Vas Memorial Football Tournament, organised by Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, at Don Bosco ground on Saturday.
The match kicked off at a fast pace, with Darryl D'Costa of Areal attempting a long-range shot that was deflected out of play. Guardian Angel's Regan Costa also came close, hitting the crossbar with a header before halftime, leaving the score at 0-0.
In the second half, Guardian Angel took control of the game, and Godwin Fernandes scored a well-placed goal in the 40th minute. However, Areal equalized in the 58th minute through Darryl Costa, prompting a penalty shootout to determine the winner.
During the shootout, Sao Jose de Areal scored through Darryl Costa, Navil Fernandes, and Myron Silva, while only Regan Costa found the net for Guardian Angel.
Frawin Dias, a player from DBO Fatorda, presented the Man of the Match award to Darryl Costa of Sao Jose de Areal for his outstanding performance.
