Sesa FA edged out FC Goa 2-1 in the Goa Professional League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Friday.
After a goalless first half, FC Goa emerged from the break with renewed intensity and wasted no time in breaking the deadlock. Just a minute into the second half, Abawiha delivered a precise cross from a short corner on the left. The ball found Sitroy Carvalho at the far post, whose header caused chaos in the box. Mallikjan Kalegar was quick to react to the loose ball, pouncing on the opportunity to slot it home and give Goa the lead.
Sesa quickly responded to the setback and leveled the score in the 61st minute, courtesy of Clencio Pinto. Omkar Shetgaonkar delivered a well-placed corner from the right, sending the ball into the danger zone. Pinto rose above the defenders to meet it, powering a header into the top-left corner of the net, restoring parity and putting his side back in the hunt.
Fueled by the equalizer, Sesa ramped up the pressure in the final third, determined to take the lead. Their efforts paid off in the 85th minute when Kirtikesh Gadekar whipped in a precise cross from the right flank. Beckham Singh, showing quick reflexes, made a well-timed dive to meet the delivery with a header that beat the goalkeeper and found the back of the net, putting Sesa ahead 2-1.
FC Goa threw everything forward in search of a late equalizer, but Sesa’s defense stood resolute, holding firm to their narrow advantage and securing all three points with a hard-fought win.
