SFX Camarxett triumphed over Fondegal SC in a thrilling encounter, clinching victory via a tiebreaker with a scoreline of 8-7 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Late Roque Fernandes Memorial 9-a-side football tournament on Monday.
The tournament, organised by Fondegal Sports Club, is being played at the St Alex Church ground in Currorim. The match had intense action from the outset, with Mario of Fondegal launching a powerful shot from the top of the box that rattled the crossbar in the 20th minute of play. Just before halftime, Maldini managed to break the deadlock, putting Fondegal ahead with a well-taken goal.
The second half saw Camarxett mounting a determined comeback, with Anslem finding the equalizer in the 40th minute of play, setting the stage for a tense penalty shootout. In the ensuing tiebreaker, SFX Camarxett demonstrated superior composure and accuracy, emerging as the victors in the shootout.
Pritam Dhamaskar's standout performance earned him the Man of the Match award, which was presented by Alex Dias.
