St Anthony's Boys Panchwadi prevailed over Don Bosco, Sulcorna 4-3 via tiebreaker to emerge champion of 5-a-side football tournament organized by St Anthony's Boys, Panchwadi at Figureido Ground, Curchorem.
Bablu put St Anthony's in front when he slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap-shot. Stung by the reversal, Don Bosco regrouped and created forays into the rival territory but near-misses prevented them from levelling the match.
Crossing over, Don Bosco enjoyed better exchanges and Jaime cancelled the lead. In the penalty shootout, St Anthony's had the last laugh.
Curchorem Municipal Council Councillor Balkrishna Pinte Hodarkar was the chief guest and presented the trophies in the presence of guest of honour Anand Prabhu Dessai and special invitees Alvito D’Cunha, former international footballer, Pradip Naik, Susanth Naik, Ali Shaikh, Sidhesh Bhise and Irfan Killedar.
St Anthony's Panchwadi were richer by Rs 20,000 and a trophy while Don Bosco Sulcorna had to settle for a prize of Rs 15,000 and a trophy.
