St Anthony's SC, Marna-Siolim defeated PVC Association 3-1 to book their place in the semifinals of the 23rd Vagator Soccer 2023 organised by Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club, at Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club Ground, on Wednesday.
In the 24th minute, St Anthony's SC took the lead when a floater from Saideep Pomburpekar found his teammate Kashiram Pomburpekar to slot the ball into the net. St Anthony's SC doubled their lead in the 26th minute as Kashiram Pomburpekar squared a pass to his skipper Dalesh Pednekar, who neatly placed it past the opposite goalkeeper.
PVC Association managed to pull one back in the 54th minute as Waldron Martins floated a through ball to Floyd Pereira, who converted it. In the final minute, a freekick awarded to St Anthony's SC was taken by Vipul Pednekar as Dalesh Pednekar put the nail to the coffin to make it 3-1.
The man of the match prize was awarded to Dalesh Pednekar of St Anthony's Sports Club.
Arlem YA reach quarterfinals
Arlem Youth Association Raia beat Dramapur SC 3-2 to move into the quarterfinals of the 24th All Goa Inter-village football tournament at Chinchinim Church grounds.
Both the goalkeepers stole the limelight in a match played mostly without showers. Velito Cruz's two goals in five minutes put the Dramapur side on the defensive. Velito's first goal came from a goalmouth melee when he kept his cool and tapped home in the 7th minute while Velito netted his second when he poked home a freekick in the 11th minute.
Dramapur managed to reduce the margin through Franky Oliveira in the 35th minute. Danny Fernandes scored Arlem's third in the 38th. Dramapur reduced the margin further when Sanay Oliveira scored in the 54th minute.
Kho kho team trials at Navelim
All Goa Kho Kho Association will hold selection trials for men and women on July 30 at 9 am at Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium, Navelim. Initially, at the first stage, 30 probables each for men and women will be selected. After that, a 90-day coaching cum training camp will be held and then the final 15-member teams will be chosen to represent Goa. Players above 18 years of age can attend the trials along with their birth certificates.
