The U-14 boys' handball team from St. Francis Xavier High School, Bhatpal, Canacona, clinched the title at the Goa State-Level Handball Championship organized by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Panjim. The team triumphed over St. Francis Xavier High School, Siolim, with a 15-11 victory.
This win marks a historic achievement as it is the first time a school from Canacona has won the All-Goa State-Level Handball Championship.
The team’s journey began at the Taluka level, where they defeated St. Anne’s Institute, Agonda, with a close 6-7 score in the finals. They then advanced to the District level, where they overcame Manovikas High School from Salcete Taluka by 8-7 in a thrilling final.

In the finals, Sholwin D’Costa delivered an outstanding performance as the goalkeeper.
The State-level finals were held at the Campal Ground in Panjim, and the medal distribution ceremony was conducted by SSO Anant Sawal.
The team was coached by the school’s Physical Education teacher, Nehal Komarpant, and supported by the school's manager, Fr Freddy Lobo.
