Seasoned campaigners Regina Mundi School, Chicalim were lucky to beat Infant Jesus Academy, Velsao by a solitary goal to move into the semifinals of the U17 Boys Subroto Inter-School Football Tournament at the Regina Mundi School ground. In another quarterfinal match, formidable and strong contenders Our Lady of Perpetual Succour School, Cortalim trounced Mount Litera School, Sancoale 7-0. In the semifinals, OLPS, Cortalim will clash with Regina Mundi School at 9.15 am. In the second semifinal scheduled at 10.30 am, St Thomas High School, Cansaulim will take on St Andrew's HSS, Vaddem.
Maina SC thump St Rock YC Majorda 3-1
MARGAO: Despite being short of one player, Maina Sports Club defeated St Rock Youth Club Majorda 3-1 to move into the quarters of the 24th All Goa Intervillage Football Tournament organised by Sirlim Sports Club at Chinchinim Church ground. Jeywin Carneiro was the hero for Maina scoring the opening goal in the 6th minute from a difficult angle. But soon he turned the villain when he was evicted for dissent by referee Caetano Pereira in the 26th minute. Josley Dias restored parity for Majorda when he slotted home a free kick in the 29th minute. Crossing over Maina lads displayed better coordination and regained the lead in the 39th minute through Nickson Castanha and made the issue safe in the stoppage time from the spot.
Dias hattrick powers Corjem past Fondegal
MARGAO: Corjem moved into the next round after trouncing Fondegal 4-0 in the 1st Vicente Memorial Interward Football Tournament played at St Alex Church Ground, Curtorim. Corjem scored the first goal through Rhay Dias in the 15th minute to make it 1-0. Corjem scored two more goals through Ryan Rodrigues and Rhay Dias to make it 3-0 in the first half. In the second half Rhay Dias scored Corjem's fourth goal to complete his hat trick.
