Team SCR emerged victorious over Dezire 7, winning 10-9 via sudden death penalties In a dramatic finale at the TCH Trophy football tournament, at Simpliz Turf, Cavorim Chandor, on Sunday.
The game started with Team SCR dominating possession, but Dezire 7's goalkeeper made some crucial saves to keep them in the contest. Team SCR took the lead through a powerful strike by Stewart Costa, but Dezire 7 responded quickly. Aditya Talwar dribbled past defenders and calmly equalized, making it 1-1 at halftime.
In the second half, Team SCR regained the lead through another goal by Costa. Moments later, Jerryl Moura added a second to give SCR a 3-1 advantage. Dezire 7 responded by substituting their goalkeeper with an outfield player, a tactical change that paid off. Sagar Pereira scored to reduce the deficit to 3-2. Team SCR restored their two-goal lead with a goal from Melchoir Moura, making it 4-2.
However, Dezire 7 weren't done yet. Sagar Pereira struck again, making it 4-3, and in the dying moments of the match, Team SCR's lapse in concentration allowed Pereira to score the equalizer, forcing the game into a penalty shootout.
In the shootout, both teams converted their first five penalties. However, in the sudden death phase, Team SCR showed more initiative. Goalkeeper Scott Moraes and his substitute, Sutar, worked together strategically, switching places depending on the flow of the game. This teamwork proved decisive, and Team SCR clinched a 10-9 victory.
Team SCR were awarded ₹1 lakh, medals, certificates, and the winners' trophy, while Dezire 7 received ₹70,000, medals, and the runners-up trophy. Felix Brothers finished third and took home ₹40,000 along with medals and certificates.
The prizes were presented by Padmashree Brahmanand Shankwalkar and Savio Medeira, Technical Director of Sporting Clube De Goa. The event was attended by Joe Dias, Peter Gomes, Christopher Pereira, Deepak Karangate, and Franky Pereira.
