The Kings School, Sao Jose De Areal girls team made easy work of Perpetual Succour Convent High School, Navelim by defeating them 3-0 in the All Goa inter-school U-14 girls football tournament in memory of Sir Jawaharlal Da Costa, at Panchayat ground, Seraulim.
Lara D'Cruz scored a brace to give The Kings the much needed lead of 2-0 in the first half itself. Lara scored her first goal in the 11th minute when she ran solo after receiving a defence splitting pass and tapped the ball into an empty goal. Her second goal came when she smartly chipped the ball over the advancing goalkeeper in the 18th minute.
The Kings scored their last and final goal in the 39th minute through Joiada Fernandes to seal the fate of Perpetual Succour Convent.
Capt. Venzy Viegas, MLA Benaulim Constituency was the chief guest while Fr Basil Vago Principal Loyola HS was the guest of honour. The special invitees included Melvin Pereira Chairman The Kings School, Ligia Pereira, Director, The Kings School; Sr Liberata Fernandes, Headmistress, Perpetual Succour Convent HS Navelim; Remedious Fernandes (Timothy); Olavo D'Souza & Mr Joaquim Dias. Maria Perpetua Da Costa wife of Late Sir Jawaharlal Da Costa and Angela Dourado Panch V.P Seraulim were present and gave away the prizes to the winners and Runners up.
