Varad 7 emerged winners of the 7th 7s Cup, a 7-a-side football tournament, organised by Dzire7 and Baptista Warriors, at Don Bosco Oratory court, Panaji.
Varad 7 defeated Mangalore United FC 3-0 in the final to pocket the Rs 1,00,000 prize amount and the trophy. In a thrilling final, Sairon scored an early goal to give his side an edge in the clash. Soon Savio doubled the score and Darrel netted the third goal of the final. Runners-up Mangalore United had to settle for Rs 50,000.
Chief guest Iptisam Shaikh, Teacher Husn Mayrah School, Fatorda gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of other dignitaries. Following were the individual awards: Best player: Sattar, Mangalore United; Best goalkeeper: Savio, Varad 7; Best defender: Shallum, Varad 7.
