YSC Colvale made short work hosts Nerul Sports Club 2-0 to move into the quater-finals of Nerul Panchayat Cup Inter Village Football Tournament 2024 organised by Nerul Sports Club, played on Nerul Sports Club Ground.
Match started with a attacking mode from both the side. In the 7th Yash Naik missed the goal opportunity from inside the goal area. A long-range shot from Prajot Shirodkar was very well saved by YSC Colvale goalkepper Sahil Kamble.
Central refree Rakesh Vaka cautioned Danish Ahmed for reckless tackle. Cyrus Dsouza took lead for YSC Colvale in the 46min. Soon later Rohit Parsekar's powerful shot passed the goalkeeper of Nerul SC to make to 2-0. Nerul SC tried to score but YSC Colvale kept their defence strong.
MCC, CC Altinho post wins
MCC beat Vijay CC by 9 wickets in the morning match while CC Altinho from Mapusa got the better of Maruti Sports Club, Margao by 4 wickets in the ongoing 2nd Late Chandrakant Karapurkar Trophy organised by Sportsweek CC and MCA here at the SAG Fatorda grounds.
In the morning match, MCC won the toss and elected to field in a rain-affected match. In the stipulated 10 overs the MCC bowlers restricted the Vijay side to 53 in 10 overs losing 7 wickets. the highlight was the 4 wicket haul by Yash Kaswankar which included a hat-trick.
MCC easily overhauled the total in 6.4 overs losing 1 wicket. Later, in better conditions, the CC Altinho bowlers bowled a tight length restricting the Maruti team to 100 for 8 wickets in 18 overs. Nikesh Panjikar was the wrecker-in -chief with a haul of 3 for 19. Infancio Correia (28) was the highest scorer for Maruti. CC Altinho with steady batting revolving around Utkarsh (41 not out) passed the score in 16.3 scoring 4 wickets.
Damodar HSS win baseball championship
Damodar Higher Secondary School of Gudi-Paroda defeated Walawalkar HSS Khorlim Mapusa by 14-2 Homes to emerge state champs in the U-19 Inter Higher Secondary Boys Baseball Championship organized by DSYA at Ponda Sports Complex, ground.
For Damodar HSS “ Sameer Shaikh, Abhishek Kamati, Bharat Gaonkar, Kunal Gaonkar, Krish Gaonkar, Saheel Gaonkar and Pankaj Naik scored Homes. Sameer Shakh excelled in Pitching. Earlier in the South District finals Damodar HSS defeated Angle HSS of Mashem by 6-4 homes.
Nuvem SC win on penalties
Nuvem Sports Club beat Margao Sports Club 4-3 via the tiebreaker and moved into the next round of the 10th Lotoulim Panchayat Cup organised by SCC Lotoulim and played at Montir ground, Lotoulim on Sunday.
The full time score remained goalless. In the tiebreaker, Nuvem Sports Club proved to be the better shooters. The Man-of-the-match award was given to Anricic Dias by member Maria Monteiro.
Fr Agnelo YSC secure quarters berth
In a closely contested match, Fr Agnelo YSC of Paroda secured a narrow 1-0 victory over CAC Cansaulim to advance to the quarterfinals of the Coutinho Family soccer tournament. The tournament, organized by the Santa Cruz Society of Potomado in association with Cuncolim Union, took place at the Cuncolim School playground on Sunday.
The solitary goal of the match came from the boot of Clifton Fernandes, who capitalized on a pass from Reagan Costa to give his team the crucial lead. Despite valiant efforts from players like Elvino Fernandes, Aaron Fernandes, and Cancio Soares of CAC Cansaulim, they were unable to find the back of the net. Fr Agnelo YSC had their own missed opportunities, with Nikhil Kolvenkar and Reagan Costa unable to convert scoring chances.
