The Bastora United Sports and Cultural Club is focused onproviding a platform for the boys of Bastora to improve their skills infootball, cricket and indoor sports. The football team is presently playing inthe third division. The club is in its infancy and is not is a position toprovide players for the professional clubs in the state but there are boys likeArun Reddy and Joel Martins. The management is trying to get these boysinducted in clubs like Sporting. The management visits various village tournamentsscouting for talent. The deserving are later invited to join the club.
They have around 22 boys who receive training every Saturdayand Sunday evening. The club is willing to give players time to groomthemselves up as footballers and is not pushing forward into getting them intothe leagues. Training talent is paramount for the club. With regards tocricket, the club occasionally play a match or two, though it is football wheretheir focus is presently on.
We have no corporate sponsors, in fact we are looking forone. When we decided to start this club the club members donated what theycould. Some donated Rs.5000 other less and we were able to collect Rs.40,000.We are determined to add our bit to the efforts to improve the level offootball and sport in the country. We are all players, and though we constitutethe management, we regularly play along with the boys. This is our passion.
