Cong legislator accused of developing property in dead woman's name

Congress legislator Pandurang Madkaikar of Kumbharjua constituency has been accused of illegally developing real estate property in the name of a dead woman in Old Goa.

Social activist Sudip Tamhankar has filed a criminalcomplaint against Madkaikar in the crime branch of Goa Police. Tamankar hasdemanded that an FIR should be filed within 24 hours,

“I demand chief minister’s intervention in this case as an MLAis involved in the forgery and as the CM has a zero tolerance policy againstcorruption” Tamhankar said.

Tamhankar, in his complaint before the crime branch, hassaid that Madkaikar sought approval from the Old Goa panchayat when his wife was the sarpanch of the Panchayat in 2010.Tamhankar has also accused officials of TCP, PWD, Health for issuing NOC’swithout going through the proper scrutiny of the documents.

As per RTI documents which were sourced by Tamhankar fromdifferent departments has revealed that Madkaikat purchased the property inmeasuring 4,000 sq mtrs in 2008 and in 2009 he had applied for the constructionlicense in the Old Goa panchayat in the name of Mogre Fernandes who died in 2003. In 2010, Madkaikar sought permission to transfer the construction license to his ownedfirm Madkaikar Realtors Private Limited.

It has also revealed that Madkaikar sought the permission ofconstruction after fraudulently increasing the FAR, 4,000 sq mtrs to 19,000 sqmtrs.
