Jobless youth fall victims to Congress' adventurism

Let truth be told as it should be told. The Congress government in its last days in office went on an illegal hyperdrive, to dole jobs to the youth in key departments held by their high profile ministers, in a last ditch attempt to stem the growing tide of discontent against the previous government.

Recruitment norms were violated, the recruitment process hadhuge gaps and were done in a manner to push through appointments which weretechnically dated before the code of conduct came into place.

While the youth absorbed as mines field supervisors, whosejobs are not being confirmed by the BJP government, have been made victims ofthe political brashness of the previous government, the Congress really has nocase by sitting on a dharna and blaming the present government for the mess. Infact the youth who are behind made to suffer, for their gullibility andinnocence should turn their ire against the very men who turned up at theirdharna site at Azad Maidan in Wednesday in a show of solidarity.

It amusing how a party pushes innocent youth into a well forthe sake of votes, loses the elections and asks the new ruling party to takethem out of the well. The Congress government committed irregularities and isnow asking the BJP to regularise their follies.

The Congress needs to give credible answers to the followingquestions before taking even a step further in attempting to be savior knightsof distressed “recruits”. Why did the computer timing on the date, when lettersfor mines supervisors, depict December 26 when the youth claim that lettersdated December 23 were sent to them by post? Incidentally the code of conductcame into place on December 24.

Were the trials conducted for linesmen the power departmentheld as per norms? There is credible information that applicants were merelyasked to climb a short pole to qualify for “fitness.” Were all vacancies forall recruitments advertised prominently? There again is evidence of peoplebeing picked up by minister’s men in villages and asked to “join” the followingday.

220 offer letters for mines field supervisors were issuedunder one single entry. Is this regular or possible?  Were budgetary provisions made for the same?

While answers to most of these questions are known, thereshould be a clear investigation so that hard realities are presented before thestate and importantly before the unfortunate victims of political adventurism. At the same time, clear cases where letters were issued before December 15,should be honoured and final appointment letters issued.
