A teenager Mohammed Shaqib from a village in Uttarkhand has been arrested by the Harayana police for sharing an "offensive morphed photo" of the PM. However, Bihar BJP chief Nityanand Rai says publicly with impunity - "If anyone raises eyebrows at PM Narendra Modi, break his hands and if need be even chop them off". A bounty of Rs 10 crore is announced for beheading Sanjay Bansali or Deepika Padukone and Rs 1 crore for chopping off her nose or burning her alive. Durga" and another "Nude" passed by a 13-member jury is surreptitiously dropped, it appears, just for the names. The creative fraternity thought the films were appropriate. How narrow minded and intolerant can we get? Must the overloaded courts be approached to play nanny to this government and save us? The politicization of Padmavati, destruction and violence is another example of a government in power which promotes vote banks and vigilantes/fringe groups/mobs, taking law into their own hands by its silence/inaction. Is this the New India we are striving for?
