State art exhibition winners announced

The results of the 43rd  State Art Exhibition (Student Category) organised by Kala Academy Goa are out! 

Girish Ramchandra Naik has been declared as the winner in the painting and graphic print category. Akshaydeep D. Gawade and Saiesh Bharat Mahale on the other hand took home the second and third prize respectively.  

The applied and graphic design section saw Alfred Fernandes in top position while Bhaktesh J. Naik and Yash Damodar Nevrekar secured second and third place. In the sculpture section, Gaurang D. Naik was awarded first prize with Gaurav Gurudas Naik and Akshay Chari taking second and third place.

The Prafulla Dahanukar Award of Rs. 15,000/- for the best work at the exhibition was awarded to Ashish Ulhas Phaldesai. A prize sponsored by Goa Hindu Association in memory of Late Raoji V. Gaunekar was given to Sanayvi Sadanand Naik, whereas the Late Hanumanth Neugi Memorial prize was given to Rajat Shripad Naik. The exhibition was judged by Mohan Naik, Sachin Madage and Assavri Kulkarni.

Having organised the exhibition for the last 42 years, this year, the competition witnessed an entry of 111 works with a total of 71 works  selected for display in the exhibition. The exhibition will be inaugurated at the hands of Govind Gaude, Hon’ble Minister for Art & Culture, Govt. of Goa and Chairman of Kala Academy on March 6 at Kala Academy which will be followed by the prize distribution function.This exhibition will be on view for public till March 10.
