Here's a simple way you can brighten up someone's day this Christmas. With the aim of spreading Christmas cheer, Caroline Macrory, a mother of two from London has come up with the doorstep challenge which she posted recently on Facebook and which has been shares over 1,115,000 times. The idea is to leave an anonymous gift on the doorstep of someone who could do with a little Christmas cheer. A therapist and project worked with a domestic violence charity, Caroline first came up with the idea last year. “With my job I come across a lot of women in difficult situations, and a lot of single parents. Christmas can be a really difficult time for them, but I’m not able to give them gifts because I have a professional relationship with them,’ she added. ‘I decided I still wanted to do something nice though. It’s a way to counteract all the horrible things in the world at the moment.”
Here are the challenge rules
1. Pick someone who has had a tough time or would simply benefit from some festive goodwill. It doesn’t have to be someone you know well.
2. Choose them a gift “ big or small.
3. Write them an anonymous note, some kind words about why you were thinking of them.
4. Leave it all at their doorstep.
5. Knock on the door and leg it “ make sure they don’t see you!
6. Feel happy knowing that you have spread some Christmas cheer with no expectations of anything in return.
