Four books were released at two different functions held in the State. Eminent people present at the book release functions lauded the efforts of the writers for their contribution in the field of literature.
Konkani book release
Upcoming Konkani writer and poet Shri Rui Aleixo Coelho from Maimollem in Vasco da Gama, added two more books to his literary collections with the release of two new Roman script Konkani books viz., ‘Devachem Rup’ a collection of 43 essays and ‘Mogachi Zhor’ a volume of 93 poems at the hands of Fr James Torres e Silva at Vasco recently. Apricio Pereira, former Asst Commissioner of Customs and Central Excise, was the guest of honour while Ashok Chodankar editor of Konkan Divo, Konkani writer Tarquino D’Souza and Konkani author Daniel F de Souza were present as special invitees at the book release function.
Shri Rui Coelho a promising writer has published one of his books earlier and another Konkani book is presently under publication through the Dalgado Konknni Akademi, Panaji.
Speaking at the book release, Fr James Torres e Silva said, “God has given you this talent of writing and you should go forward and keep on writing. You should continue your good work, because you can do a lot with this talent and educate the society through your writings. Rui Coelho’s writings are focused on the society at large and Goa in particular and reflect on its culture and rich traditions. Coelho is an enthusiastic young man and his involvement in the small Christian communities too is also noteworthy. He has got some innovative ideas for the benefit of the society around him. I wish him well in all his literary pursuits”.
Apricio Pereira and Daniel F de Souza also complemented the writer for his work towards the language and society by writing and publishing books.
Annapura and Srujan Shrawan released
Written in English, the book Annapurnaa highlights Goan traditional festive food recipes. Apart from mentioning the popular dishes of the day, the book also chronicles some old recipes that are on the verge of being forgotten. Besides the recipes, there are special articles dedicated to important ingredients of Goan cuisine such as coconut , natural solar salt etc.
On the other hand, Marathi book Srujan Shrawan primarily deals with monsoon-related literature. The book comprises of interviews of some prominent Goan artists from
various fields. Like International Sitarist Ravindra chyari, Art director Sushant Tari,
Fado singer Soniya Shirsat, Vocal singer Sumedha Desai, and many more. The diverse types of literature showcased in the book include poems, gazals.and informative articles on Goan traditions such as Bhajan, Matoli etc. The book release function of these two books was organised by Manasa creations where Pallavi Dempo, executive director Dempo industries ltd was the chief guest. Dr Pramod Salgaoncar, director HR, Geno pharmaceuticals ltd and Nilima Morajkar, director, Sun estate developers were also present on the ocassion.
