Ulhas Morajkar has been elected unopposed as the new sarpanch of Sangolda panchayat. The post had fallen vacant after former sarpanch Avinash Naik had submitted his resignation a fortnight ago citing personal reasons.
The Mapusa block development officer convened a special meeting in the panchayat office on Wednesday to elect the new sarpanch and all seven panch members, Deputy Sarpanch Jelisha Tulaskar, Ulhas Morajkar, Avinash Naik, Premand Kochrekar, Pushpa Naik, Divya Palyekar and Udai Kandolkar were present.
Since Morajkar was the lone panch to file a nomination, he was declared elected unopposed by Mapusa BDO Extension Officer Manohar Parvar, who was assisted by Panchayat Secretary Ranjana Raul.
