MARGAO: Margao MLA Digambar Kamat on Monday underscored the need to put a methodology in place to make library and reading popular amongst school and college students.
He was addressing the function organised by Dr Francisco Luis Gomes district library at Navelim-Margao on the occasion of World Book Day on Monday.
“Come out with some methodology wherein school and college students are encouraged to read books. We should remember that degrees does not make one a good citizen, but general knowledge and how much well read one is make the person a good citizen”, he said.
Saying that today’s generation is glued to the computers and mobile phones, Kamat stressed on the need to get the children and school students back to the libraries to cultivate in them reading habits.
Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuemkar and others attended the programme.
