Establishments within vicinity of PMC to remain closed on account of general election

District Magistrate South Goa has imposed Section 144 in the view of General Election to Ponda Municipal Council in South Goa District which is scheduled to be held on May 5 and counting of polled votes is fixed on May 7.
DM has ordered that all Restaurants, Bars, Tea shops, Pan shops, Eateries and other food shops/joints (Dhabas, Gaddas) etc., situated in Ponda Municipal Council in South Goa District jurisdiction within 100 meters of the polling station on day of poll i.e. on May 5 from 6 am to 6 pm and Counting centre on day of counting i.e. on May 7 from 6 am till end of counting of votes of Ponda Municipal Council will remain closed.
DM has further banned any gathering or crowd comprising of more than 5 persons within 100 meters of any polling stations within the area of Ponda Municipal Council.
The restrictions shall not apply to public servants on duty and to bonafide marriage or funeral processions or religious processions/functions.

The above order shall not apply to the authorised officers on Election Duty by the State Government, including the polling officials, Magistrates, Police officials and Government staff.
