The Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) razed a structure along the road opposite Tanya Hotel in Vasco.
Urging roadside vendors not to indulge in encroachments, MMC Chairperson Nandadeep Raut warned that strict action would be initiated against such activity.
Raut said MMC workers had visited the site and demolished the partial structure, following a complain about attempts to erect a shed by a roadside fruit vendor.
“We received a complain that a vendor selling fruits by the roadside initially made a concrete floor. Later, he got bamboos erected in buckets filled with cement and may have had plans to erect a shed.”
“I alerted the police who went to the site and stopped the work. The issue was also reported to the municipal engineer and chief officer. Later, MMC workers went to the site and demolished the structure,” said Raut.
