A kite was observed flying in the vicinity of Goa International Airport last month, according to a letter from The Captain (Air) for Commanding Officer, INS Hansa Dabolim to the District Magistrate, South Goa. The area the kite was fying in falls in the flight path of low-level helicopter flying which can have serious implications on flight safety. During aircrafts' critical phase of landing or take-off, presence of kites/lanterns can have grave consequences. The public are advised to refrain from such activities near the airport which can lead to untoward incidents.
