A three-day 15th National Symposium on Radiation and Photochemistry (NSRP-2023) was held recently by BITS Pilani Goa on behalf of the Indian Society for Radiation and Photochemical Sciences (ISRAPS) and in association with the Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), Mumbai with the participation of over 150 delegates. The scientific program of the symposium included 20 invited talks by researchers from research and academic institutions from across the country such as BARC Mumbai, IISc Bangalore, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Roorkee, IIT Hyderabad, IISER Kolkata, NIIST Trivandrum, etc. as well as thesis and poster presentations by young research scholars. Inaugurated by scientist Dr A K Tyagi, the director of the Chemistry group at BARC, Mumbai, this symposium generated novel research ideas that would accelerate future research and development. Radiation and photochemistry, which are the studies of the interaction of light of different energies with matter, have proven to be thriving areas of research with applications in sensing and detection of toxic compounds, therapeutics, photo-catalysis, healthcare, etc.
