MARGAO : Ambelim SC came from behind to stun Sporting Club of Davorlim 2-1 to enter the quarter final of the Cavelossim Villagers UK Cup, organised by Santa Cruz Club Of Cavelossim, at Fr Druston and Wellington ground, Cavelossim.
In a match dominated by attacking football, it was Paxton Gomes of Davorlim who tested Ambelim keeper Ivan D'silva who tipped over the ball to safety. Ambelim immediately hit back when Samson controlled a cross from Parryson and shot into the goal from 6 yards but Davorlim keeper parried a blind save to keep his slate clean.
However, in the 20th minute, Abhay Shetty drew first blood for Davorlim when in a misunderstanding Ambelim keeper failed to collect a free ball in the goal area which was pounced by Abhay Shetty to put Davorlim 1-0 up.
Minutes later, winger Perryson of Ambelim crossed the ball from the left flank to Velroy Rebello whose first time shot beat Francisco under the Davorlim bar to restore parity.
In the second half, both teams missed a galore of chances and as the match was heading for the tie-breaker Gileston of Ambelim lobbed the ball into the crowded goal area of Davorlim and in a goal mouth melee Samson tapped the ball into the Davorlim goal to seal a well deserved victory for Ambelim.
