M'rashtra car owner pays price for driving to Colva beach over footbridge

MARGAO

A Maharashtra-registered car drove its way onto the Colva beach via the footbridge over the Colva creek.

The owner of the vehicle, however, had to pay a price after the car was detained by the Covla police and released after paying of a penalty amounting to Rs 2,000.

The car made its way to the beach after the driver drove over the footbridge, drawing attention of the visitors and the locals alike. As the presence of the vehicle on the beach raised an uproar, the Colva police was called at the site, which promptly detained the vehicle.

Colva police station in-charge, PI Theron D’Costa said the vehicle was later released after imposing a fine of Rs 2000.

Locals pointed out that the decades old footbridges over the Colva creek were repaired only a year ago after they showed signs of strain.
