The PWD on Tuesday has decided to disconnect water booster pumps illegally connected to the main pipeline and has also warned of strict action against those using such water boosters in the port town.
“The PWD has issued an office order for the disconnection of booster pumps. The order has instructed maintenance staff to disconnect booster pumps installed by consumers to the direct pipeline in Mormugao municipal area,” said a source at the PWD Office in Baina.
“The maintenance staff have been directed to carry out these disconnections immediately as it has caused issues and due to which, water supply to other consumers are affected,” said the source.
Many people in New Vaddem and other areas had complained of water scarcity and have allege that booster pumps had been illegally connected to the main water pipeline.
The residents had written to the PWD to initiate strict action on those installing such booster pumps, thereby causing water scarcity in other surrounding areas.
