The Taxation Committee of Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry conducted a webinar on Practical Taxation and Compliance Issues of NRI’s in association with Goa Branch of WIRC of ICAI. A chartered accountant and past president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India Ved Jain addressed the webinar and gave a presentation on the topic, covering other aspects too. Jain spoke on income from foreign sources, determination of the status of residents under DTAA, the impact of amendments, NRE deposits, FCNR deposits, dividend income, etc. The presentation was followed by a Q&A session. The webinar, attended by over 100 participants, was followed by a session by HDFC Bank. Here, the compliance matters in NRI banking were briefed by Ajit Pandit, NR product head at HDFC.
