Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday through virtual mode inaugurated the ‘One Station, One Product’ (OSOP) stalls at the Vasco and Sanvordem railway stations.
Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai was present at the function along with Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Environment Minister Aleixo Sequeira, MLAs Krishna Salkar, Sankalp Amonkar, Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Girish Borker and others.
Later speaking to the media, Pillai said he had met PM Narendra Modi a few months ago and spoken of developing stations along the Konkan Railway route.
“PM Narendra Modi heard my request and immediately ordered programmes through the Railways Ministry, which are now being implemented. Goa is developing day by day especially with the Railways sector where so many programs are being launched in such short time. It is a great initiative where a local product exclusive to the State are being highlighted through stalls which are the most visible part of any railway station,” said Pillai.
Tanavade said PM Modi had launched through online mode various infrastructure projects worth Rs 85,000 crore at 760 locations in the country.
“These stalls will have Goan products on sale so that local products get popular. Some of the local Goan products include Kokum, coconut products, coconut Jaggery, cashew nuts and other exclusive Goan products which will be sold at these stalls,” said Tanavade
Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar, Minister Alex Sequiera also spoke on the occasion.
