As many as 27 of the 33 village panchayats in Bardez are expected to hold ordinary gram sabha meetings on February 28, the last Sunday of the month, while the remaining six will hold the meeting on March 7.
The Block Development Officer of Bardez on the instruction of the Directorate of Panchayats has directed all the sarpanchas of Bardez to conduct the ordinary gram sabhas meetings.
It is mandatory for every village panchayat to hold meetings of ordinary gram sabhas on any Sunday of January, April, July and October.
But due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the resultant restrictions on social gatherings, no gram sabhas could be held from April 2020 in any of the panchayats in the State.
The BDO Shivprasad Naik has convened the gram sabha meetings in the following panchayats on February 28: Aldona, Anjuna, Assagao, Assonora, Calangute, Camurlim, Candolim, Colvale, Guirim, Moira, Nadora, Nerul, Oxel, Parra, Penha De Franca, Pilerne, Pomburpa, Reis Magos, Saligao, Salvador Do Mundo, Sangolda, Siolim, Sirsaim, Socorro, Tivim, Ucassaim and Verla Canca.
The panchayats of Arpora Nagoa, Bastora, Nachinola, Pirna, Revora and Siolim Sodiem will hold the gram sabha meetings on March 7.
The BDO informed that all the panchayats will have to follow the MHA guidelines while holding the gram sabhas.
He said the use of masks by all participants, sanitiser and social distancing should be maintained at the meeting.
“We will be issuing necessary instructions to all panchayats on following the Covid-19 guidelines,” the BDO said.
