MARGAO
With the 118-year-old Margao Municipal building hit by space constraints, will the Margao City Fathers and the Municipal babus recommend the utilization of the fifth floor of the proposed multi-level parking project for the storage of all Municipal documents? This question assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of the fact that the heritage building has outlived its utility.
Interestingly, Margao Municipal officials, in private, seem to be strongly batting for the utilization of the vacant fifth floor in the proposed multi-level parking project for the storage of old municipal documents and for office use.
Even City Fathers say the multi-level parking project should have enough space for the storage of old records. They have contended that given that the heritage building cannot be expanded to cater to the growing requirements, it is in the fitness of things for the fifth floor of the multi-level parking building to be earmarked to house all municipal documents.
