GF chief, LoP, South Goa MP keep away

MARGAO

Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai was conspicuous by his absence at the Viksit Bharat Viksit Goa rally at the KTC bus stand attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday.

The opposition leader Yuri Alemao and Congress MP Francisco Sardinha too were conspicuous by their absence.

Sources pointed out that the name of the Goa Forward Chief, who represents Fatorda constituency, reportedly figured in the list of persons who would welcome the Prime Minister at the venue,  he is believed to have decided to stay away from the rally following the recent speculations over his imminent entry into the ruling BJP.

Sardesai had not only welcomed the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Fatorda for the Viksit Bharat Viksit Goa rally, but had helped the government to scout for alternate land for the relocation of the KTC bus stand in a makeshift bus stand during the rally. Sardesai’s presence at the Viksit Bharat rally had only fuelled speculations in many quarters over his entry into the BJP, a situation which the Goa Forward Chief and leaders blamed certain BJP leaders for working overtime to spread the rumours.
