Goa’s first Vande Bharat train to be flagged off today

PANAJI

The much-awaited Goa-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express train will finally be flagged off virtually from Madhya Pradesh by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday.

The Madgaon-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express will be Goa’s first Vande Bharat Express. It will run between Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Madgaon station and will help save about one hour of journey time when compared with the current fastest train connecting the two places.

It may be recalled that the commissioning of the Madgaon-Mumbai train was called off after the recent major train accident in Orissa.

The Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw who had arrived for the Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat train inaugural event in Goa had to rush to Balasore district where the accident occurred to take stock of the situation.

Modi will also launch Bhopal-Indore Vande Bharat Express; Bhopal-Jabalpur Vande Bharat Express; Ranchi-Patna Vande Bharat Express and Dharwad-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express on Tuesday.

The operation of Vande Bharat trains on these routes will be the first launch after the three-train accident in Odisha. The train accident which occurred on June 2 claimed 288 lives.
