Govt must act on illegalities of Railways, says former MLA

VASCO

Former Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha on Friday said the State Government must immediately act on alleged illegalities by Railway authorities in Velsao.

"The Railways had no documents in hand and hence they have given the villagers yet another slip on Friday. I even spoke to the Railways GM who says the land belongs to the government but they have no documents in hand to prove their land ownership,” said Saldanha.

“The Railways assured to show their land ownership papers but they seem to have nothing in hand. The Railways are showing the village survey plan with different survey numbers belonging to different landlords of the village which does not prove any ownership of the Railways on the land that they are working.”

“How can Railways enter into private property and claim that it is their land and start working on it as if there is no law at all? I want to ask the government if there is any law in Goa or can anyone do anything what they want in anyone's properties? The Government must immediately act on these illegalities that include trespassing into private properties at Velsao," said Saldanha.
