The head constable, facing an inquiry for allegedly submitting forged medical certificates to avail sick leaves, has been rewarded with a new posting at Ponda police station. The department has ironically shied away from initiating disciplinary action against the outgoing GRP Coy HC.
He is among 369 personnel transferred from their current place of posting in a massive reshuffle of police sub-inspectors, assistant sub inspectors, HC and constables on Friday. In its expected order, the department has also failed to allot adequate replacement in some of the major police stations and units such as SIT Land Grab, ANC, etc. Among the total, the majority of those transferred are of the rank of HC and PC.
Some of the units in the elite force are facing criticism for allowing some of its staff to skip work while still showing them as ‘present’ in the attendance registers. Despite internal complaints, no action has been initiated.
