HC reserves judgement in Arolkar's plea to quash 'land-grab' FIR

PANAJI

The Bombay High Court at Goa has reserved its judgement on a plea filed by Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar to quash the FIR of land grabbing registered against him.

The FIR was lodged on the basis of a complaint filed by one Rawloo Khalap with the Special Investigation Team at Crime Branch accusing the MLA of being involved in an attempt to grab land and creating over 200 plots in the property while illegally and fraudulently executing sale deeds with third parties and selling the entire property in connivance with Pernem Revenue officials.

Arolkar, however, denied the allegations and said that the complaint was a result of a property dispute between the original owners and their family and didn’t constitute a ‘land grab’ as commonly understood.

A Division Bench of the Bombay High Court at Goa comprising Justice M.S Sonak and Justice B.P Deshpande today after hearing final arguments has reserved their judgement on the petition filed by Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar seeking quashing of the FIR against him in connection with the land grabbing case.
