Investment fraud case: Bail plea of main accused opposed

The Economic Offenses Cell (EOC) has opposed the bail application filed by the main accused in the alleged Rangeeta Enterprises investment fraud, saying the accused is required to find out whether any properties have been purchased by the accused person in the state of Goa and outside.

The main Jai Kumar Gohil who was produced in the Court has been remanded to Judicial custody after the expiry of his 14-days police custody.

Even as the accused has moved for the court for bail, the EOC on Thursday opposed the bail application on the host of grounds, including the ground that the crime committed by he accused is of serious nature, a white collar crime and non-bailable in nature.

EOC Investigating officer Razashad A Shaikh submitted to the court that investigations of the case is in its initial stage and the presence of the main accused person is required in Judicial custody.
