Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh slammed the BJP government in Goa and accused it of using section 39A of the TCP Act to grab the land of farmers and local communities and handing it to builder lobbies.

Addressing the media during his visit to the State, Singh said more than 3.5 crore square meters of land was now being earmarked as No Development Area (NDA) giving the government sweeping powers to take over the land at will via land acquisition laws whenever it deems fit.

He alleged that 60 lakh square metres of agricultural and community land is being converted into settlement zones, benefitting builders aligned with the ruling BJP.

“Goa is for Goans, but the BJP has handed the State over to builders,” Singh declared.

The AAP leader warned that farmers and local communities stand to lose their holdings under the new regime, which he described as a land‑grab in the guise of development.

Singh’s remarks come amid growing unease over land policies and urban expansion in Goa.

During his visit, Singh also met the party’s State leadership, including Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas and Velim MLA Cruz Silva, at a hotel in Benaulim on Friday. The meetings focused on strategy ahead of the 2027 Assembly polls, with land rights emerging as its key campaign plank.
